Mechanical subcontractor |
| Client's Problem: |
A subcontractor client made a request for added compensation on their project. They had incurred an overrun in both material and labor, but they wanted to demonstrate that the overrun in labor was significantly more than the overrun in material. |
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services reviewed numerous job cost documents and categorized them into labor, material, equipment, subcontractor and other costs.
VN Services used this information to produce a demonstrative graph and we used the calculations to make an appropriate request for added compensation.

Client Type: |
Attorney |
| Client's Problem: |
Attorney represented two clients (general and a subcontractor) who both
had a claim against an owner. There was some disagreement between the general
and the subcontractor as to the values of each other's claims and they believed this would have an impact on settlement with the owner. |
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services was hired to evaluate the general's claim and the subcontractor's claim, and then to give a report with both parties present as to suggested modifications, if any were required, to the claims.

Client Type: |
Architect |
| Client's Problem: |
A mid-sized architecture/engineering firm had a claim filed against it by a contractor who used a consultant to prepare a report supporting the contractor's claim. The architect needed an expert to mount a defense against the report produced. |
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services went to the architect's offices to go through project files of meeting notes, correspondence, contract documents, etc. A detailed review was carried out on the other side's analysis, which revealed several substantial defects in their arguments. A report was then produced by
VN Services that was used by the architect in the litigation that followed.
|
Client Type: |
Owner |
| Client's Problem: |
The owner was involved in a lawsuit by a general contractor who alleged the owner delayed the completion of the project and caused damages to the contractor. The contractor had submitted a report and the owner needed someone to evaluate the claim for negotiations and be available for expert testimony in trial as needed. |
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services was hired to respond to the general contractor's report in an effort to negotiate a settlement before the trial. The owner's attempt to settle was unsuccessful and
VN Services testified on behalf of the owner using an analysis of the schedule, a report and numerous demonstrative exhibits.

Subcontractor |
| Client's Problem: |
Contract
required subcontractor to provide CPM scheduling, labor usage
and resource cost analysis as primary documentation for monthly
progress payments. |
| VN Services Solution: |
We
used Primavera P3 scheduling software to develop the target
schedule with baseline budgets for labor usage, labor cost and
material cost for each activity. We then tracked the activity
progress and resource usage on a monthly basis, generating the
required computer graphics and reports to be submitted for
monthly billings.

Problem: |
The
owner of a large medical facility needed a representative on a
construction job site each day, but their own internal people
were working on other projects.
|
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services personnel reviewed the job site each day, wrote a report
of the progress and called in to the hospital's head of
construction and updated him on the job's progress and
concerns.

| Client's Problem: |
The project owner did not have a
project management staff to track and control the scheduling
and financial analysis of a 3 year multi-million dollar, multi-project
master plan in preparation for their new central facility. |
| VN Services Solution: |
We worked closely with the owner's
Director of Construction to develop a multi-project master schedule
and multi-project budget analysis format. We presented our schedule
and budget reports at weekly and/or monthly project management,
finance and executive committee meetings which allowed the owner
and Director of Construction to know and control the master plan
from an informed schedule and budget control position.

General
contractor was required through contract specifications to
produce a computerized CPM schedule of over 700 activities and
to make updates every week. While the general contractor had
people on staff who know scheduling, they were busy doing other
tasks and the general contractor wanted a third party to help in
the interface between the multiple primes, the owner and the
architect. |
| VN Services Solution: |
The
general contractor hired VN Services to develop the schedule by
sitting in on the meeting to discuss same. They also hired VN Services
to do updates to the schedule with the % completes and
completion dates given to them by the general contractor.
Maintenance of the schedule was eventually turned over to the
contractor's staff when they became available.

| Client's Problem: |
An
industrial contractor was awarded a contract in a steel mill for
a two-phase construction project consisting of preparatory work
and a four week outage. The contractor wanted a schedule for the
outage so that they could co-ordinate with all of their
subcontractors. |
| VN Services Solution: |
VN Services was hired and produced a seven day per week, 24 hour per
day schedule dividing the work up into each individual area
where the activities of each subcontractor were shown in a
different color to allow for easy identification of
responsibility.
